Thailand Diwali Events 2026: Bangkok, Pattaya & Phuket Guide

Thailand's official 2026 Diwali programme gives Indian travellers seven free celebrations across Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket from November 3 to 29. The events are spread across the month rather than confined to Diwali Day, so visitors can add one to an existing holiday without rebuilding the entire itinerary.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced five signature diya-lighting ceremonies alongside cultural performances, music, food and festive activities. This guide turns that announcement into a practical route plan while keeping confirmed details separate from the items travellers still need to check with each venue.
Thailand's Diwali 2026 programme at a glance
- Overall dates: November 3–29, 2026
- Destinations: Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket
- Number of celebrations: seven
- Signature diya-lighting ceremonies: five
- Diwali Day in the official programme: November 8
- Admission: free at all seven celebrations, according to TAT
November 3–4: The First Light at Central Bangrak
Bangkok's opening celebration begins at Central Bangrak on November 3. TAT lists the first diya-lighting ceremony from 17:00 to 18:00, followed by live Bollywood music, with activities continuing into November 4.
This is the easiest choice for travellers arriving before Diwali Day. Bangrak also works well with a riverside or central Bangkok itinerary, but confirm the exact event area and daily programme with the venue before leaving the hotel.
November 6–8: Lotus by the River at ICONSIAM
ICONSIAM's Riverpark hosts a three-day celebration from November 6 to 8. On Diwali Day, November 8, the official schedule lists a diya-lighting ceremony from 17:00 to 18:00 and riverside fireworks at 18:00.
November 6 also brings Bangkok's Royal Barge Procession to the Chao Phraya. These are separate events, and river transport or road access may be affected earlier in the weekend. Do not assume normal pier operations; recheck both the shopping centre and transport operator.
Our Royal Barge Procession guide and Chao Phraya boat guide can help with the wider river plan.
November 7–15: Pattaya's two celebration areas
Pattaya has two overlapping programmes. Nine Nights of Candlelight runs at Central Festival Pattaya Beach from November 7 to 15 and includes Diwali Day activities on November 8.
Lamps Along the Shore follows on Pattaya Beach Road from November 13 to 15. The official beachfront diya-lighting ceremony is scheduled for November 13 from 18:00 to 19:00.
Travellers combining the city with Bangkok can compare our Bangkok and Pattaya packages and Pattaya area guide.
November 8: A Sunday of Flavour in Phuket
Phuket's announced Diwali Day celebration takes place at Central Patong on November 8, with an Indian food festival and festive activities. TAT's announcement does not provide a full hour-by-hour schedule, so check the venue before planning flights or an island excursion around it.
Patong is convenient for nightlife and broad dining choice, but it is not the best hotel area for every family. Our Phuket area guide compares different bases, while Phuket packages can combine the event with beach and island time.
November 20–24: Threads of Faith in Little India
Phahurat, Bangkok's historic Little India, hosts Threads of Faith from November 20 to 24. The event builds on celebrations along Khlong Ong Ang and culminates in a diya-lighting ceremony on November 24 from 17:00 to 18:00.
That date brings Dev Deepavali, Loy Krathong and Gurpurab together on the same full-moon night. The combination makes it culturally significant and likely to draw strong interest, but the official announcement does not publish crowd-control or road-closure details. Arrive with a walking and public-transport plan, respect worshippers and avoid blocking ceremonies for photographs.
For the wider full-moon period, see our Thailand November festivals guide.
November 26–29: Music on the Avenue at EMQUARTIER
The final programme runs at Quartier Avenue, EMQUARTIER, from November 26 to 29. Its closing diya-lighting ceremony is scheduled for November 29 from 17:00 to 18:00.
This is the easiest option for travellers staying along the Sukhumvit BTS corridor. It can fit around shopping or a relaxed final day, provided luggage remains securely at the hotel and the airport transfer has a generous buffer.
Which event should you choose?
- For Diwali Day itself: ICONSIAM in Bangkok, Central Festival Pattaya Beach or Central Patong in Phuket.
- For a riverside setting: ICONSIAM from November 6–8.
- For a neighbourhood cultural experience: Phahurat from November 20–24.
- For a beach holiday: Pattaya from November 7–15 or Phuket on November 8.
- For easy BTS access: EMQUARTIER from November 26–29.
- For an early-November visit: Central Bangrak on November 3–4.
These are planning recommendations, not official rankings. Choose the event that already fits your route rather than adding a domestic flight solely to attend another venue.
A sensible six-night Bangkok and Pattaya plan
- Day 1: arrive in Bangkok and keep the evening free.
- Day 2: temples and river sightseeing with an early finish.
- Day 3: attend the Bangkok Diwali venue that matches your travel dates.
- Day 4: private or shared transfer to Pattaya, followed by hotel time.
- Day 5: one main Pattaya activity and a Diwali celebration if it falls within November 7–15.
- Day 6: flexible beach, shopping or family time.
- Day 7: airport transfer with a comfortable check-in buffer.
Do not book two major evening events on consecutive intercity travel days. Traffic, queues and late returns can make the second day less enjoyable.
Practical advice for Indian travellers
- Check the venue's current daily schedule before travelling; the TAT announcement confirms the programme framework, not every performance time.
- Use rail or river transport where practical in Bangkok, while keeping event-day service changes in mind.
- Carry light rain protection and protect phones and festive clothing from sudden showers.
- Use supervised lighting areas only and follow staff instructions around diyas and fireworks.
- Ask before photographing worshippers, children or close-up religious activity.
- Do not leave valuables unattended in a crowded event area.
- Keep the return journey and final public-transport time saved on your phone.
Travellers who want the celebration built into a wider route can start with our Thailand tour packages or request a custom itinerary.
