The Bun Luang & Phi Ta Khon Festival 2026 runs 20–22 June in Dan Sai District, Loei, centred on Wat Phon Chai. Famous for towering ghost masks, music, and merit-making, it is one of Thailand's most photogenic cultural events—and one of the least forgiving if you arrive without transport and rooms sorted.

Getting to Dan Sai
From Bangkok: Fly to Loei (LOE) or Udon Thani (UTH), then drive/taxi to Dan Sai (plan 1.5–3 hours depending on route).
From Chiang Mai: Long bus or flight connection via Udon/Loei—allow a full travel day.
Book accommodation now. Homestays and small hotels sell out months ahead for Phi Ta Khon weekend.
