Bangkok traffic, rest stops, ferry queues and hotel distance can add time. Choose a through ticket or written transfer plan that states whether the ferry and island hotel drop-off are included.
Via Trat Airport
Flying shortens the mainland leg but does not remove the ferry. Ask the airline or transfer provider whether the arrival connects comfortably with the operating ferry window. Avoid building an international departure on the same day as a tight island transfer; weather, road traffic and queues are independent points of failure.
Current ferry reality
A specialist Koh Chang ferry information service reported in its July 2026 update that services were operating regularly during the daytime and that the former Centrepoint/Trat Ferry service remained suspended.
